Statement of the Problem
1.Define the norm you will violate.
The norm that we will violate is walking down 26st and 31st with posters to see how people will react to the issue.
2. Describe briefly how this norm acts as a mechanism of social control.
This norm will act as a mechanism of social control because not many people will walk down a street with posters that have child sexual abuse written across from them.
3. Describe what you will do to violate the norm.
We will make 2 posters that have hands all round them with the word ENOUGH. Enough is a way to show we have had enough abuse and we are prepared to fight back. One posters will be directed to the cars so that the people driving can show their support the poster will say HONK IF YOU ARE AGAINST CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE. The second poster will have #ENOUGH LET'S STOP CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE which will be directed to the people walking around.
Hypothesis
4. Describe the range of possible reactions others will have to the violation of this norm.
The possible reaction that I expect from the people driving is to honk because that the reaction we are telling them to do. The people that is walking to talk and tell us something or at least give us a thumbs up.
5.What do you predict the major reaction to be?
The major reaction that I predict is for someone to walk with us and help us bring out this issue more.
Potential Setting
6. Where do you plan on the norm violation taking place? Be specific as possible.
We plan to walk down the busiest street in my community which are 26st and 31st. We plan to start at Kostner go down 31st street turn at Pulaski towards 26st, go down 26st toward Kostner and end at Kostner and 28th
7. How many and what type of people do you expect to encounter?
I believe that the people that we will encounter are colored people because the majority of the population in little village is colored.
Reflection
8. Describe your own and others’ reactions before, during, and after each violation.
I was very upset after we finish because I expected more people to support this issue but they seem uncomfortable to even think about it. Many people that were driving drove passed us really slow to read the poster but didn't beep they just stared at us. We had approximately 30 cars that honk but the rest just drove passed. Many people didn't even take the time to read the posters they just look at us and looked away. Two women that were walking passed us stopped us to read the posters and congratulated us for doing this because it's for a good cause. The rest of the people walking would ignore us or just read the posters and walk away without saying anything.
9. How did the reactions compare to what you had anticipated?
I anticipated more reactions than what we actually had because this issue is extremely important because its children that are being affected. The children are our future.
10. Note any differences between the groups’ reactions and discuss possible reasons for them.
We as a group agreed that the lack of reactions in our community. We came to the conclusion that maybe the issue is too deep to talk about because it makes me uncomfortable to think that a child can be sexually abused.
11. Why does the norm you choose to violate exist? What would happen if it didn’t exist? Would the results be good or bad?
People feel uncomfortable standing up to what they believe because not a lot of people in little village believe that they have a voice because they are either undocumented or don’t feel financially stable.
12. Did your experience stimulate any other questions? How would you test those question?
I would like to ask the families that walked passed us with children why they did not react to the posters or ask question about this issue when they have children of their own that they need to protect from things like this.

13. Look up the “spotlight effect” (not the kind that relates to photography or Photoshop). Define it (in your own words) and describe how it relates to your experience.
I felt like many people were looking at us so that kind of felt like the spotlight effect. Thus relates to my experience because we were breaking a norm and we expected for the community to react to what we were doing.
14.What did this exercise teach you about the social justice activism as a method for changing the world?
What this experience taught me is that if I strongly believe in an issue I can help my community be aware of things like child sexual abuse by taking my voice and using it to bring awareness.
15. Some people regularly choose to break social norms and act as social justice activists. Name 2-3 famous people who you consider to be social justice activists. Why do you think some people choose to be social justice activists?
_I believe that martin Luther king was an activist that fought for human right I believe he chose to stand up and fight racism because he wanted a better future for the children. Another person that I believe can be considered as an activist is Abraham Lincoln because he also fought for human rights and he believe that we shouldn't see colored people as something lower.
